As I’ve been exploring LinkedIn to find relevance I missed a big one. If you recall so far I have found two ways that LinkedIn is relevant to my business.
1. It enhances my chamber networking
2. If facilitates giving and receiving testimonials or recommendations
A third that I should have probably included first since this is what got me started here
3. It leads to new business — my baptism began after receiving a lead from someone looking to connect to me to help one of their clients that resulted in closed business, and continued to several additional new clients.
#4. It helps you introduce connections to each other.
This one is more about giving value than getting value. I’ve been so focussed on how LinkedIn is relevant to me, that I missed how I can use LinkedIn to provide relevance to my connections.
It took a Scott Allen comment to knock me upside the head.
There’s no need to send the PDF in order to introduce two of your connections. There’s now a feature to forward a profile to someone else. Also, when sending a private message within LinkedIn, there’s a cc option — that’s another way to do it.
There’s actually two ways and Scott provided links to them, but I’ll repost:
1. Using LinkedIn Messaging explained in a post by Adam Nash
2. Maybe a better way using Forward Profile which Scott Allen explains in a post on his blog LinkedIn intelligence
Take a moment to look through your conections and see who might benefit from a mutual introduction. Connecting, and connecting others, is what networking is all about.
