Glad that the post was beneficial for you. I agree that beyond identifying problems bloggers should identify solutions as well.

As far as connecting to those you don’t know I would suggest your read my post on the Four LinkedIn Connection Strategies.

But to your point of someone asking for an introduction to someone that I’m connected to but don’t know: I simply pass on the introduction to the person and let them know that while I do not personally know the person asking for the introduction, I don’t like to stand in the way of potential opportunity.

I’ve experienced many successes connecting to people I did not know. Good Luck.

This is a great post–awesome reading for any job seeker. I just found it by accident but it caught my attention. I love the way it’s broken down into mistakes and then, best of all, actions to address how to avoid those mistakes. So many blogs give advice about what to do and what not to do without ever giving a specific plan of action.

I would be cautious, though, about one thing. Adding people you don’t know well on LinkedIn can get awkward if someone sees you have the common connection and then asks you about the person…who you’ve never even met.

That’s just what every new Linkedin member needs! Although I have had the sense to figure out most of these steps on my own, but it helps to have them all laid out as a simple checklist, especially since I always tend to get distracted with building my website and researching the net for helpful articles.
Phrasing your goal clearly is the sure way to achieve it!
